Speaking of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, it is the Shinkansen that connects Honshu and Hokkaido with the Seikan Tunnel, but there has been a history of discussions about whether to run freight trains in this section.
At present, the balance of the Hokkaido Shinkansen continues to be poor, and the question is whether it is possible to improve the balance by running freight trains, but the running speeds of the Shinkansen and freight trains are completely different in the first place. For example, there are still many unknown parts, such as what kind of effect will occur when passing each other, and there is still no clear direction.
Considering that, the fact that we started to consider the mixed transportation of cargo and passengers using the Hokkaido Shinkansen this time, although there have been similar discussions so far, the fact that the examination actually starts has been so far. It's a movement that isn't there.
In other words, the idea this time is not to run a freight train to carry the luggage, but to carry the luggage by the Shinkansen.With this method, luggage can be transported without running a freight train in the Seikan Tunnel.
